I own a Columbia coat too, both xs, both fit similarly, both are form fitting but they have enough space to fit whatever you need underneath. This one is as warm, even though is lighter and less stuffed than the Columbia one. What I truly don't like about this one is that it doesn't have a two way zipper and thus it bulges when I'm walking or sitting. Also I hate the strings that are supposed to make the coat more tailored: they don't work, look silly, and they untie all the time. My Columbia coat has two fabric strips that close with snaps, a way better method that actually works. Hood is not essential for me, I never use it.
Anyway, the point is you can find better, but this is no doubt a great product.

Sad that one front hip pocket grommet easily tore loose when I snagged it on a grocery cart- will bring it to the cleaners for repair because I SOOO love it!

My husband even complimented me on how flattering it was without me asking. Not particularly flattering in the chest area but what warm coat would. It is warm and great for everyday wear. Well made but I was disappointed that the outer fabric was so lightweight and delicate looking (very much like silk) and picked up cat hair readily. I worry it won't last. I also didn't like the strings with metal beads on them that hang from the lower arm area that hurt when they hit my hands. I will remove them. Over all I do really love this coat even if not perfect.
