The boots are lightweight and comfortable right out of the box, I bought them a half size larger for wearing winter socks and they feel great. I love that you show me how much I have saved over the years, too......keeps me coming back time after time. Thanks Sierra Trading Post for the high quality, low prices and exceptional serrvice!
great shoes, don't listen to advice By alex from san francisco on 08/31/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Good Traction, Waterproof Best Uses: Cold Weather, Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: i bought a 12 because the description suggested that i get a 1/2 larger. even though the shoes fit, it is a little large. i would have gotten a better fit if i just got a regular size (11 1/2). the shoes are wide, so its perfect for people like me who have wide feet. very comfortable and stable!
By seayhorse from DC-Baltimore on 08/30/2008 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Cons: Not lighter than air Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Light Loads Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational, Work in these boots Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend I have had a pair of these boots for years. I usually wear size 13 shoes, but bought size 12. I am getting the 13's this time arounnd, because with thick socks, the 12 is too small. These boots are pretty true to size.
I have wider feet than some (but generally fit in a medium width), with need for a big toe box. These fit.
Great support and durability, though they are not totally waterproof after the Gore-Tex wears away.
They are pitched forward a bit- good for hiking- but not too much for knocking around.
I don't see this in the modern description, but my boots (at least 5 years old) have a reinforced toe that makes them useful in worksites. I use these boots for everything from hiking to carpentry to mowing the lawn. They are great.
I have not found a boot that fits my foot or my needs better than these boots.
By SloMo from New Castle, DE on 08/29/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable Best Uses: Jogging, Running, Walking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I jog/walk several times a week at a local park, and these feel great on my feet. Knowing that my feet do go up a half-size when I pound the asphalt or trail, I ordered a 7 when normally I wear a 6 1/2. Thank you for a great product!!
By lovemntns from North Carolina on 08/25/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I got these this summer and took them on an 8 day backpacking trip after only breaking them in on about 5 hikes. I thought they gave me great support, even with a really heavy pack. They broke in really fast and I didn't get a single blister on the trip. They survived the rain really well too.
By Nikki the Biker from Herndon, VA on 08/22/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Good Traction, Lightweight Best Uses: Trails, Wet Conditions Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Comments: I got these shoes to do some serious hiking/trail running in the mountains. They did great on the trails! It had recently poured so the trails were muddy and the rocky portions very slippery, but the shoes still had great traction! They are very light and breathable without getting wet too easily. Great buy!

By Lainer from Seattle from Seattle Wa on 08/16/2008 Cons: Cumbersome, Heavy, Very stiff Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I love Vasque and have never been disappointed until now. I am 58 and an avid hiker who needs good ankle support - that is what drew me to this boot. When I tried them on, it felt like I was wearing boots made out of cement. They are heavy, stiff and cumbersome. I walked around in them for awhile and it was painful. Had to return. This has not turned me off to Vasque but I will be cautious when I pruchase again.

I broke them in, but I am not sure I had to they were that comfortable. I climbed my first 14er in them and they were great.
