Good product, bright light, uses 6 AAA's
By Curiously Miserable from (San Diego) on 08/14/2008
Pros:
Adjustable Beam, Adjustable Brightness, Bright, Durable, Stable
Cons:
AAA's prone to leakage, Bulky, In a warm climate, Low battery life, Uses 6 AAA batteries
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Day trip, Hiking, Lantern vice room light, Substitute for large
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
My biggest concern is the use of 6 AAA's, in a warm climate, AAA's are prone to early leakage no matter what brand you use. A better design would be to make it a bit larger in the battery compartment and use AA's which don't leak as much or as soon under heavy current loads as AAA's do, plus they would tend to last a bit longer, the other option could be designing it to use 3 C batteries instead of 6 AAA's, C's can handle current draw better than AA's, but since I'm just a consumer, what do I know about size & weight trade-offs when designing a flashlight/lantern with these capabilities? I use it instead of a room light so I can read my mg levels at night so I don't disturb my wife.

Comments:
I was looking for a flashlight that would also serve as a lantern in my small camper-- this really appears to be a perfect solution. Very reasonable price and its rated battery life is generous-- because there is a low power setting. This also would be handy to keep around the house for emergencies. Note this uses six batteries not three as the product description may state.

Comments:
This flash light is a good size, bigger then a mini-maglite, yet smaller then a conventional 2 d-cell flashlight. The lantern feature is nice to have as well. I have a big coleman 4 d-cell wide beam flashlight with this feature also.(good for power outages). The light is fairly bright at high setting (there's 3), this means there's 2 extra clicks involved when turning the light off and on, push button is at base of flashlight. The lantern feature does not seem to light much of an area,(I guess it's sufficient though). If this flash light holds up it would be a good investment, if your looking for a smaller/versitile flashlight.(I have not used it much yet, other then testing it out). It seems fairly durable/well made. I did not see any warranty information on the packaging. So I'll just have to wait and see how it holds up.
