My intention was to lessen stress on my knees an these poles did the job. They are super light and it's just so much easier taking on these steep trails with heavy pack on. The adjustment isn't one of the easiest. At first I had hard time to get one of them locked. After a while messing with it I figured that you'd have to collapse the section all the way and then turn clockwise (don't lock it, just get started, you'll feel it) to get the locking mechanism started and then adjust the section to desired length then tighten all the way. Not very fast but poles are sleek and wont snag on anything.

Bought son less expensive anti-shock which were 6 oz heavier. One of my poles' duo lock failed on the third day. Wound up having to pack it nine days for return not to mention not having the use of the gear. No problem whatsover on the anti-shock--son used his poles for everything including ptiching dining fly. .

The Komperdell DuoLock on the C3 Carbon Trekking Poles was easily one of the poorest locking mechanisms I've ever used. They needed re-adjustment/re-tightening every couple of hours while hiking (Uggh). Eventually, the lower locking mechanism broke off on the lower section of one of the poles. I'll be returning to the tried and true Leki lockers on their (clearly superior) trekking poles.

Just loosen them enough to slide, then tighten back up. Done!

I once had a hard time getting them to tighten, but I learned that extending them almost all the way (to the red mark) and then tightening solved this problem.

However, I did have a problem with the tightening for one of the poles. I pulled it apart and found out what the issue was since I had to use it the next day. I will be return for a new set.

Grateful for return policy but living very remotely the hassle of having to return them and then wait for new ones to arrive sucks. It's a 55 mile snowmobile just to my mailbox. Hope they check out my new ones first before sending them to me.

I had some reservations regarding the "Duo-Lock" adjusting system based on other customer reviews but couldn't believe a company like Komperdell would continue to put out defective locking mechanisms. I followed the brief directions that came with the poles and was unable to securely tighten the "Duo-Lock". This reinforced my initial anxiety about these poles. I remembered some suggestions by other users and went back to the customer reviews from Siera TP and other retailers whose poles are also Komperdells with the "Duo-Lock" system. I finally found a reviewer that suggested that you must extend the poles to near their fullest length before trying to tighten the lock. This engages the locking mechanism. Then keeping the locks very tight, but loose enough to move, slide the poles to the desired length and then tighten them fully. This works easily and quite well. I think you need to check the tightness of the lock occasionally to assure they are OK. These are great poles. Komperdell should put better instructions with them, This would save everyone from having problems with the "Duo-Locks".
