Nothing alpine about these By Will from Wasilla, AK on 10/15/2007 Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Comments: These are an average hiking boot dressed up to look like a mountain boot. They lack both the materials and construction of the boots they emulate: the leather is thin, the lacing won't lock down your foot, and the sole flexes like a tennis shoe. They'll be fine for hiking around, but they aren't designed for the mountains.
By JW from Lavergne, TN on 09/16/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Glacier Travel, Mountaineering Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was aprehensive about these up to the day of our Rainier Summit climb. Couldn't have been better though. Several of our group had double Plastics and, weight being a consideration, wore them on the approach. These boots did the approach with enough flex to be hikers, but then when I put my crampons on got me to the top and back without any problem at all (only person with no blisters, and that after only one weekend break in hike!). Great all round mountain boot for heavy packs (70 lbs.) and mixed routes where you need one boot to do it all. Images shared by: JWBoots in action Tags: Using Product
