Throws line a mile in a float tube. I haven't found a better rod for the money.

My other five Powell rods from Sierra are all excellent. The Advantage XL 10wt that arrived last week had a pronounced curve out of the tube, and cast very badly. Sierra is rushing me another one which I will inspect carefully, confident that it will be right, or will be made right!

I don't think there's anything magical about the Powell name for these, they appear to be ordinary IM6 Graphite, and made in Korea.
One big disadvantage of this rod in 8WT is that it's a wet noodle. Hardly a medium-fast action, I'd say its more like medium slow. I had quite a bit trouble casting larger streamers and poppers. It has trouble handling 8WT lines, it's more like a 7WT. Also, it has only very small stripping guides. This adds up to a freshwater, not a saltwater-ready rod.
Finally, and worst of all, the 8WT Advantage is VERY insensitive. I can't feel anything through this rod or even feel it load on the cast. I can't recommend the 8WT Advantage rod.
