It was a great casual wear though, very lightweight.
great jacket at a good price By geo from Iraq on 10/18/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight Cons: Too big around stomach Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping, Under body armour Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great jacket with good fit thru the chest/back but a little too long in the sleeves and the stomach area. I am 6'4" 220, it fits well but if you are thin you may want to go with the large. I still think it is a superb value and worth every dollar.

Very good fit and stylish for an adventure jacket.
A must have for the active By Tybombero from Sacramento, CA on 09/12/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, stylish, Warm, Windproof Cons: Little short in the front Best Uses: Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I haven't put this to the true test yet, but this seems to be exactly what i was looking for - a good lightweight shell to keep out weather during hikes/camping/biking etc without being bulky or restrictive. It's also got a good fit and looks stylish for just casual wear during mild weather. This feels to be made of the best materials. The seems in the sleeves are a little uncomfortable (hence not 5 stars) but everything else about this is great. the cut is short in the front...not a bad thing just be aware. I'm 6'0" 170lbs and am keeping the medium for a trim fit....large fit good too.
By Rabid Hiker from Dayton, OH on 08/10/2009 Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great jacket...for use in light rain and milder weather
By NEClimbe from NorthEast on 08/01/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Warm Cons: Not Enough Pockets or Features Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought the jacket on an extra % off sale to wear while rock climbing; works okay for that purpose. Would not pay full price for this jacket.
Fit is close... more like a shirt than a jacket, as some have mentioned; size up if you plan to wear the Approach over anything more than a lightweight baselayer.
Cuffs are very tight fitting. Velcro cluff closures pretty much unnecessary and useless; they actually get in the way... hooked on things... I might end up removing them.
The pockets are of minimal use; the one on the upper sleeve is only big enough for a powerbar or a watch, while those on the torso are positioned in such a way that they end up under a harness or backpack hipbelt.
Materials and construction are top-notch.
By Still Farming from Oregon on 07/26/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cool Weather, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Perfect for cool weather outdoor/casual activity. Lightweight, wind/water resistant, some warmth but not too much. While fitting snugly it still allows excellent arm movement. It fits more like a shirt, without the bulk of a jacket.
Excellent , except for the cuff's velcro By JohnnyZu from Yosemite Nat'l Park, California on 03/03/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight, Stylish Best Uses: Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket is exactly what I was looking for -- a lightweight, not very warm, breathable softshell for backpacking and hiking in the Sierras. It fits well over a baselayer and under a shell. It breathes great for cool temps hiking in the snow. But, the velcro on the cuffs do not hold well. This appears to be a factory problems as the cuffs on 12 jackets were all the same. So, I called Marmot and they will repair for free. I am 5'8" with a 41" chest.
