By backpacker stew from Utah on 11/17/2008 Pros: Compact, Easy to Light, Great temperature control, Stable Best Uses: Backpacking, High Altitude Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: great product, feels much sturdier than the msr pocket rocket, however, it is twice as heavy; So if you are planning on boiling large amounts of water or something which might crush the pocket rocket, i would go with this one instead. the starter is an awesome bonus too
By Hiker chick from Cambridge, MA on 11/07/2008 Pros: Compact, Easy to Light, Lightweight, Powerful, Stable Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We got tired of trying to cook over a charcoal fire all the time and decided to invest in a stove for base camp, but we also wanted one light enough to go for a minimal overnight or hiker's lunch. This one works for both purposes. Boils liquid fast, lightweight, stable. To get lighter, you're probably sacrificing features or paying much more. Only trouble we had is that sometimes the retractable blades stick a little bit. Good product overall.
Will use MSR and Brunton fuel for sure By Janodes from Midwest on 10/03/2008 Pros: Compact, Easy To Clean, Great temperature control, Lightweight, Powerful, Stable Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Another review mentioned it would work with other fuel, but not which fuel specificly. So far I have tested it with both MSR and Bruntons Isobutane/Propane fuel and it works like a champ. I've read Isobutane is better than the regular butane/propane gas for cold weather. The Primus should work with any gas cartridge that uses the standard Lindal valve. Reading the labels on these they appear to be all mfgrd in Korea, probably by the same outfit ,just different labels!
Terrific; more stable than smaller one By DishSoap from Mountain View, CA on 08/26/2008 Pros: Compact, Easy To Clean, Easy to Light, Great temperature control, Lightweight, Powerful, Stable Best Uses: Backpacking, High Altitude, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This stove works great. It is more stable than the smaller model that only has three supports. Definitely worth the extra ounce.
By Ranchrose from Montana on 08/05/2008 Pros: Compact, Easy to Light, Great temperature control, Lightweight, Powerful, Stable Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, High Altitude, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Comments: Was concerned about getting fuel for it. Found another brand of fuel tank that worked just fine. Worked very well on it's first time out.

This (Primus) little "hottie" has adequate stability, great output (with correspondingly excellent simmer) and convenient/reliable ignition for rapid ease in morning coffee-making. I'd buy it again (and, in fact, I did!) to have one in the knapsack for "dining out" by creeks and waterfalls. Well done (and well simmered!) Primus. And a hearty "Thank you" to Primus' fine product support; Zelinda sent me a lost part for another Primus stove, all the way from Sweden-Free! It's hard to go wrong with excellent products[...]
Clever design, light weight, a steal! By Backpacking Junkie from Akron, OH on 07/07/2008 Pros: Compact, Easy to Light, Great temperature control, Lightweight Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this stove for a 3 day backpacking trip with 2 friends. We had borrowed another stove from a friend for previous trips. This stove is so much smaller, more compact, and much more lightweight. The best feature is the self igniter - no more burned fingers or scorched eyebrows! What an indispensable little stove with an even better price!

Really heats food quickly.
By Gazelle from Colorado on 06/25/2008 Pros: Compact, Easy to Light, Lightweight, Stable Best Uses: Backpacking, High Altitude Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Used this for backpacking/camping at 11,000 ft. It worked great! The folding pot supports are alittle funky. I had a hard time getting them to retract/open after the first use. But then they seemed to fall into place. It might have been user error.
