By Kris the Hiker (aka Abiquiu girl) from Chapel Hill, NC on 10/21/2008 Pros: Breathable, High-Quality Material and Stitching, Lightweight, Packable Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love these pants. I usually wear about a 6 and from the description on the website, I ordered Medium, but they were too large so I then ordered another pair in Small, which fit fine. I specifically bought them for a hiking trip in New Mexico and I wore them more often than anything else I packed for traveling and hiking because they were the most comfortable and versatile. I love the number and location of pockets for my camera, etc. on steep hikes. I've washed them at least 6 times so far. I wish they came in more colors!
By Rho from Germany on 09/18/2008 Pros: Comfy, Lightweight, Look great Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great pants, fit great. Long enough for tall gals like me. Belt doesn't stay clasped that well, but no big deal. Wish I had more of these, great quality for price
By LBF from Alameda, CA on 09/09/2008 Pros: Breathable, High-Quality Material and Stitching, Lightweight, Nice fit at waist, Packable, Roomy seat and thighs, Stylish Cons: Regulars are a bit long Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Casual Wear, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Even though the pants are a bit long, the velcro tabs at the ankles allow you to keep them off the heel of your boot. Therefore, my daughter (12) was able to comfortably wear a women's small, because there's no equivalent out there for her age. Of course they got filthy on the backpack trip, but they came out clean in the wash, not dingy.
Lots of features but some drawbacks By MsAnnaNOLA from New Orleans on 08/26/2008 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Packable Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Casual Wear, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these for hiking. I am not concerned so much about the look of the pants as the functionality as convertables. I think these will work for the rainforest of Hawaii where it will be hot and wet.
I ordered two pair of the same size. One, constructed in Cambodia was much larger than the other pair from Vietnam. The waist and leg was 1/2 inch or and inch larger. I sent back the pair that was so much larger from Cambodia. The Vietnam fabric seemed a little less nice but this was only a slight difference.
It has a little pouch on the left leg that you can stuff the two removable pant legs into and attach it to the pant beltloops if you wish. I think this is a neat feature which keeps you from having to carry it in your hand or pack. Might help some people.
At the bargain Barn price point these are a very good deal. Lots of features for the money.
Fits for someone who likes lower waist By angela's mom from eugenem or on 08/14/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I had hoped that the waist would be higher.
By Luv2hike from Yakima, WA on 08/13/2008 Pros: Ankle zips go over boots, High-Quality Material and Stitching, Lightweight, Packable, Plenty of pockets Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I ordered according to the sizing chart, but had to exchange for a smaller size, which was just right. I chose these pants because they had many pockets, plus ankle zippers AND velcro adjustment (which easily fit over hiking boots). The gray color is a nice change from khaki. Best feature: they don't poof out on the back waistband like many other convertible pants.
By Rub Mom from Tri-Cities, Illinois on 08/12/2008 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Packable Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The pants felt like a true size and fit but there was no give in the fabric at all. I'd have to order a size up to have them be comfortable for hiking and climbing on trails. I'll look for a pair with some stretch in them.
By Ski freak from Phoenix AZ on 08/11/2008 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight Best Uses: Camping, Casual Wear, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've always wanted to try a pair of these and the price was irresistable. The fit was great for me -- smaller waist and bigger hips (the waist is often too big for me in most pants). Fabric is really nice and light, but still sturdy. Love that you can pack them up in their own pockets! Lots of fun.
By saratogalady from California on 08/11/2008 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Packable Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I plan to take these on a backpack trip. I haven't worn them as yet but since I have to pack light, I thought these would be good as both shorts and pants.
I did order a size smaller then I would normally order because of the comments from other customers and they feel just fine.
By HannaLou from Winston-Salem on 08/11/2008 Pros: High-Quality Material and Stitching, Lightweight, Packable Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Casual Wear, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The sizing on these seems way off to me. I usually wear a 10 and these fit like a 14. The legs were big enough they almost looked like a skirt. Needless to say they went back. The material and workmanship seemed good though.I would recommend these to a friend if they can get the sizing to work for them.
