AKU-USA |
| Shortly after World War II in Italy, AKU founder Galliano Bordin set about to learn the art of shoemaking and opened a welted boot factory in the 1960‘s. Now famous for their superior technology and Harmonic Lasts, AKU’s direct-injected pre-lasted boots are the perfect combination of lightness, flex and fit. For the exteriors, only top skin hides prepared by environmentally conscious tanneries are good enough to make it onto the cutting room floor. Inside the shoes, AKU’s proprietary Air 8000® Textile system ventilates feet eleven times more effectively than other commonly used materials. AKU boot makers have worked tirelessly to bring comfort and superior fit to people who walk on mountains. |

Solid Value and Performance By Sarasota Slim from Sarasota, Florida on 07/28/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Nice Color Combo, Stable Cons: Bland Style, Laces way too long Best Uses: Casual Wear, Light TrailHiking Describe Yourself: Alternative, Casual, Experienced Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Purchased for light hiking or casual use. They are more stiff than typical running shoes, giving more protection for rocky and off street use. Laces are way long, need to be cut off or double tied at least. They look to be well made and durable which only time will tell.
By EL from Boston, MA on 07/26/2008 Pros: Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've had these boots for 3 years since getting them for [$] st STP. They are made of one-piece leather and the Gore-tex lining - with regular application of wax to the leather, these boots have kept my feet dry in winter snow and crossing streams. They take a few hikes to wear in (using leather conditioner helps soften it), so don't take them on an expedition out of the box. But after this, they are great. My feet are wider than normal and they are snug in these on shorter hikes, but they do ache a little at the widest parts after longer day hikes 9I suggest Asolo boots if you have wider feet). Good ankle support. The soles are long lasting.
By Dave from Dolores, CO on 06/17/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I actually purchased these mens boots for my teenage daughter who is off on multiple week back-packing trips this summer- they fit her perfectly.
might be a bit much for day-to-day casual wear, but for serious hiking / mountaineering, they're great.
